Vicar's Blog 23rd January 2011

This month seems to be going so quickly! Everything picks up after the Christmas break; life continues in the same way it did before the Christmas goodies hit the shops. I did manage to go to the pantomime the other day at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre with the John Martin’s Charity. We went to see Aladdin – billed as ‘The 3D Adventure of a lifetime’. Of course, there were all the usual panto jokes and fun, but the Genie and special effects were in 3D. To achieve this the audience wore special glasses and the Genie appeared in right front of us. For me, a highlight of this was the magic carpet trip, also in 3D! I don’t know how it is done but the technology has really moved on. What a brilliant idea to combine it with a panto.

There was something of the panto mood at Sedgeberrow the other week when I could not find the number for the last hymn. "It’s behind you", the congregation shouted! The fun continued with a sing song over coffee. Charlie was auditioning pieces for the Music Makers May concert, and we all sang along to songs from the musicals. It was lovely to see how this raised our spirits, and we all went home humming and singing catchy tunes!

Although January can be a very bleak month, by looking ahead to the summer we can somehow cope with the damp and the cold.
